The Real Reason

“Instead of giving myself reasons why I can’t, I give myself reasons why I can.”

Your Weight Loss Motivation

I know you want to lose weight, and i know also why. Maybe i don’t know your name, and i’ve never seen your face, but i know your reasons because i know my reasons. And we all are alike when it comes to feelings, and frustrations and desires. I don’t know what your motivation is exactly, but i am sure that your reasons are similar to mine or anyone else’s who ever wanted to lose wight.

I know how much we all want to get rid of that weight we carry around, to feel slim, flexible and light. Or to remember how it feels to play, run or jump for the joy of it. To bend down without effort. How is to simply walk without gasping.

We all want to look good, to be attractive and sexy. We want to be desired. A common advice is to take a picture of yourself looking slimmer ( even if is processed with Photoshop )and hang it on your fridge or on your office to see how you can look. Is a good advice and you should follow it.

We all want to be happier, and losing weight is definitely a step into that direction.

But i want to tell you about the real reason why you should lose weight, and why you should start right now.

And this reason is

Your Health and Life Quality

Do you realize that for every extra pound of weight your health is at stake? I don’t want to scare you, if you want to read something really scary read the article Obesity and overweight. I just want to get you thinking.

The fat is stored not only on our stomach, hips and arms. Is also inside of our arteries and in our blood. And heart disease and stroke are the first two causes of death, on a global level, according to WebMD. For every pound of extra fat your heart is working harder, your blood is getting thicker, your spinal column carry more. Every organ in your body gets to work harder and longer. I don’t even have to mention diabetes and all the complications coming with it, the raising cholesterol, blood pressure and other nasty diseases.

Losing weight is not just about looking good, being successful or sexy. Is about being healthy, and staying healthy. Is about living your life at full potential and feeling good in your own skin. A perfect healthy body is our birthright, and it should be our first priority.

Bottom line, you should ask yourself what you rather do: treat a dangerous disease like diabetes by injecting yourself insulin three times a day, or exercise a bit of self restraining and losing some pounds?

Is Up To You

I know what kind of excuses will pop up in your mind here.

  • i tried everything and is not working
  • i cannot afford a good weight loss program
  • i don’t have the time
  • i just can’t stop eating
  • it’s genetics (that’s a good one!)
  • i can’t lose weight

Allow me to contradict you. You can do it. How do i know?

Because you are doing a lot of bigger and harder things on a daily basis. If you are an average person you probably work eight to ten hours a day, support a family, you raise children, you’ve spent a lot of time and money to learn a profession, or build a career, you’ve dealt with hardship, frustrations and troubles all the way to get where you are now.

So looking at the big picture, how hard can be to lose some weight? Is not like getting into the first 500 richest people in the world. I’m not talking about working ten hours a day. Start to get my point?

Maybe you didn’t tried the right methods. Maybe your heart was not in it. Maybe you expected too much in a very short time. Or whatever. This it doesn’t mean you can’t do it. If you got into the wrong train, it doesn’t mean is impossible to reach your destination.

However, a little bit of determination is required. You have it, i’m sure of that, just have to use it for the right cause.

Will also help if you understand some facts right from the beginning:

- A habit cannot be changed over night. It takes time and a step by step approach. If you dream to wake up tomorrow morning as a new person without the old habits just because you decided so, think again. It took time to build whatever habits you have right now, and it will take time to change them. But where are you running to anyway?

-No matter how good your weight loss program is, it takes time to safely and healthy lose weight. How much time is up to you, of course. I will be really sorry for you if you fall for the “lose 50 pounds in three days while doing nothing” kind of program. All the same for weight loss pills, crush diets and other weight loss “miracles”. There aren’t such things. And if we just talked about your health being at stake, you probably want to improve it while losing weight, not completely ruin it. Losing weight with the speed of light is possible, but what you will be loosing is mostly liquids and muscle mass, your energy level will dramatically drop and your life will suck. And everything will be gained back afterwards anyway.

-The best way to do something is to actually doing it! Not thinking about doing it, not planning to do it, but simply doing it! And today is the best time of all to start. If you are planning to start from tomorrow, today is the yesterday’s tomorrow, so here you go. A small step, a small change, whatever you think you can do, do it right now! It will suddenly transform you into a “doer” and become your very first achievement.

-Don’t just hope that you will succeed, know that you’ll succeed, because you will do whatever it takes and will not stop until you succeed. That’s the key to every success that was ever achieved!

And i want to conclude with my personal favorite quote that helped me all my life, gave me strength and determination in everything i wanted to be or do:

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate;

I am the captain of my soul.
