How To Make Diet Shakes
If you like shakes, following a diet is no reason to give them up. On contrary, i highly recommend them since they have a high concentration of fresh fruits and are healthy even as a breakfast.
If you don’t know how to make diet shakes, no problem. The principle is simple and will explain it here.
Usually a shake contain fresh fruits, at your choice or in a specific combination and quantity, ice-cream and/or milk, and sometimes sugar. They all get into a food processor and come out as a delicious shake.
To make a diet shake you need to remove the sugar, thus compensating with more sweet fruits, replace the ice-cream with ice, and maybe remove the milk, but this is an optional step. Is possible to just use skim milk or if you like, coconut milk. No whipped cream!
The combinations of fruits are important. Banana goes with almost everything, and is nutritive. Strawberry, raspberries and blueberries are excellent antioxidants and high in fiber. Peaches, oranges, mango will give an exotic taste to your diet shake.
How to improve the taste and the quality of a shake?
- add plain fat-free yoghurt, it will make a great probiotic breakfast.
- add baking cocoa and vanilla extract, together with skim milk and you will have a healthy chocolate shake.
- add whole grain cereals and honey for another excellent breakfast.
- add small quantities of nuts, almonds or peanuts for a greater taste.
- a drop of mint can make a lot of difference.
- combine and try new ideas, is more fun than just following a recipe.
A last word of warning: there are people who recommend shakes as full meal, with the option to add protein powders of some sort. There are diets based on regular consume of shakes. Is not my recommendation. I would consume diet shakes as a dessert, or instead a snack in the afternoon. If is correctly balanced, with yoghurt and cereals, it can replace a breakfast, but no more than that. Don’t starve yourself. Remember, the faster you lose weight, the faster you will gain it back. Nourish your body and he will reward you with a healthy balanced weight loss.
