Understanding What Diet Is All About
For the average overweight person who just want to start dieting, losing weight can be a very confusing business.
Conventional wisdom and popular weight loss trends can make your life a living hell. Where to start? Low carb or low fat? Weight loss diets, fad diets or fitness programs? How many meals a day, if any?…How many calories? Diet pills, fat burners or appetite suppressants? The more you digg into this for reliable information, the more far away from common sense you get, and the more confuse.
And i say common sense because this is actually the key ingredient that you need to figure out all this dieting puzzle. And stay sane.
How to use your common sense? Start by asking yourself the right questions. Why are you gaining weight in the first place? Is what you eat, when you eat, or how much you eat? You have a too sedentary lifestyle? Is your metabolism becoming lazy? Is there any change in your life who triggered this process or you’ve being overweight all your life? You tried your best the the diet doesn’t work? You know the answers to these questions, even if at the subconscious level. Trust your answers.
Those are the questions who will help you sort out the various weight loss systems and discard the irrelevant ones. Dieting is really about common sense. The food you eat is like the fuel that keeps your system running, is converted into nutrients and energy, and the waste is eliminated. Storing fat means that somewhere this simple process doesn’t function as is should. The problem can be only in this key points:
1. Ingesting more than can be converted into energy- the surplus is stored.
2. The converting process (aka metabolism) is not functioning at full capacity-again, the surplus is stored as fat layers.
3. The elimination of waste is problematic- the surplus is stored-big belly!
Sometimes is one or two of this causes, most of the time is all three of them. The body is a system, so a malfunctioning process will naturally affect to a degree or another some other processes, as well as the whole system.
Then there are some other factors who can be added, like age, health conditions, genetics, eating disorders and so on, but they are subpoints to those three main points.
From here, knowing the cause, or the causes, it will be easy to do the math.
1. If the problem is ingesting more than can be converted into energy, from any reason at all, then you will need a weight loss system to restrict the amount of useless foods (junk-crap-processed food that doesn’t nourish your body in any way) and increase the amount of high convertible kind of foods. A diet who won’t starve you or demand an academic degree in calorie calculations. For easy picks check out Strip That Fat weight loss system.
2. If your metabolism seems to be the problem, you need a weight loss system that will boost your metabolism, like Fat Loss For Idiots or one that include a personalized diet and fitness program, fitted to your body’s unique needs, like Diet.com comprehensive weight loss program.
3. As for the big fat bellies that won’t go away no matter what, combined with bloating, heartburns and digestion problems, you may want to check out what this easy alternative, or read more about this in this post.
And here is a little trick of mind to remove the negative connotations associated with the word “diet”.

I agree that it can be difficult to start losing weight. There are so many different variations of dieting plans. They all seem to attack weight loss at a different angle. Whether it is carbs, fats, calories, etc.
I think people need to be aware of some of the silly fad diets, like the cabbage soup diet, ice cream diet, etc.
Please take the time to check out my blog on fad diets why are they bad?

Hope to not disappoint any of my readers.
My best to you, Rod
Thanks for the post. It seems like these days you need to be a doctor to know which diet is right for you. For me, I just begin with the idea that I am going to eat as much fresh food as possible, and that seems to work.
